Many people tend to blame operating system vendors for neglecting security, but the fact of the matter is, OS vendors and compiler manufacturers have provided many mechanisms to developers that directly address current security issues. Many exploitation mitigations are now common place at the operating system level, leaving individual applications as the weakest link against attack. This presentation will go over security mitigations specific to the Windows operating system and show how developers can greatly increase the cost of exploit development by taking several small steps during the development process.
